About the HSA @ CHS
Parenting high schoolers is so different from when they were in elementary school, isn't it? As our kids grow and gain independence, we take a step back to let them find themselves and thrive, while continuing to support, guide, and care for them. It's much the same for the CHS Home & School Association.
Our CHS students are leading the way as they discover their passions, showcase their talents, and express themselves through clubs, sports, the arts, academic achievement, and countless activities. And just as we do as parents, the HSA adapts to the needs of our kids and continues to play a vital role in enriching and enhancing the CHS experience.
So, how does the CHS HSA support our high school community? We collaborate closely with CHS administration, counselors, class advisors, and students to create, coordinate, and fund programs, activities, and events that support and celebrate our students, staff, and faculty. Our Focus series highlights a different area each month.
Supporting a dynamic school like CHS truly takes a village! More than 50 dedicated volunteers have committed their talents, energy, and time to serve in executive board roles and a wide variety of committees, including communications, hospitality, beautification, fundraising, and more.
Two of our largest and most impactful efforts are CHS HSA Cougar Cares and Midnight Madness:
|
COUGAR CARES
Cougar Cares' mission is to help ensure that every CHS student has the opportunity to participate fully in school life.
|
MIDNIGHT MADNESS
Midnight Madness has been a beloved CHS tradition for almost 40 years!
On the night of graduation, the entire senior class is invited to embark on a substance-free, phone-free mystery overnight adventure. Fundraising efforts help minimize the cost for graduates, making this CHS milestone event accessible to all seniors who want to participate. The HSA is proud to offer seniors a safe and memorable way to celebrate together one last time as a class. Learn more. |
The CHS HSA actively supports the Columbia High School community all year long in so many ways!
-
Programming and events that enrich the CHS experience, such as Homecoming in October, Grads Return in December, free SAT/ACT Diagnostic Comparison Tests in the fall and spring, and the Prom Red Carpet in June.
- Beautification projects throughout the school building and grounds. Last year, we added greenery throughout the building and new murals in the cafeteria.
-
Appreciation events for faculty and staff, like the back-to-school breakfast, holiday brunch and cookies, and the spring luncheon.
-
Information for CHS families, including the HSA website and our Monday morning newsletter with all the news and reminders you need for the week ahead.
