Midnight Madness is a 35+ year CHS tradition where we take the graduating class on a substance and phone-free mystery overnight adventure on the night of graduation.  For the Class of 2024, Midnight Madness happens on June 19 and begins shortly after the commencement festivities end at Codey Arena.

Every registered student comes to CHS before 9pm to register and get assigned a bus. Then our buses depart CHS for the amazing parade through our two towns (this year sponsored by The Sam Joseph Team) and then onto the secret venue.  They'll get a full, delicious dinner and then 5 hours at the venue before returning home.

What time do students need to be at CHS?

Registered students should arrive to CHS between 8:15PM and 8:45PM on June 19th

What should students wear?

Be casual and comfortable.  This is not the prom.  Sneakers and shorts are fine if the weather permits.

Can students bring a car and park it overnight?

Yes, students can park in the two lots down Parker Avenue (near the YMCA and former Gleason's).  Please leave the flagpole lot for staff and volunteers.

Are phones really not allowed?

Yes, phones are really not allowed (a Midnight Madness tradition) and all students will need to pass through a security check before boarding buses. We will have a professional photographer at the venue and there is no need to pay for anything.

What about epi-pens or prescription medication that has to be taken during the overnight hours?

All medicines or medical devices must be approved in advance.  A parent or guardian must email mm@columbiahsa.com by Noon on Wednesday, June 19 in order for a student to pass through security with any items that are not allowed.

What bus will I be on?

Buses are assigned based on when you check-in in the cafeteria.  So if you want to ride the bus with a certain group of people, YOU MUST CHECK-IN WITH THEM.  That means you should wait for each at another location and then come in together.  How do you do that without phones?  You'll figure it out.

Will students be fed?

Yes, students will be served dinner upon arrival at the venue, snacks throughout and a delicious dessert treat before re-boarding the buses.

What time will students be back at CHS?

We estimate the buses will return to CHS between 3:30AM and 4:00AM on the 20th.  If a student needs to call or text someone to pick them up, hopefully a friend who parked overnight can store that student's phone for retrieval upon our return.  Chaperones will be at CHS until all students are picked up.

Can you tell me where we're going?

Nope.  Only about 6 people in the entire district know our destination and we plan to keep it that way.  This is another Midnight Madness tradition that we are proud to continue.
